Woodcock and Dinner in Quincy, March 18 2016

Six birders met despite the threatening sky’s in the hopes of seeing American Woodcocks displaying.

To reduce the amount of background noise we birded at Passanegeset, aka Broad Meadows in Quincy, instead of the traditional spot at Squantum Point Park. Both locations reliably have good numbers of Woodcock displaying at this time of the year.

Just as it got dark, the sky’s opened and we had a short downpour. By the time we were back at the cars, the rain stopped and soon after the Woodcocks started “peenting”. Unfortunately they only allowed us very short glimpses, but woodcocks were heard by all. We soon adjourned to a nearby diner and had a good meal in great company
